E-Commerce Web Design And Development Considerations

By jason on 03/04/2016

Web Design is a diverse and intricate topic; it's not as easy as whipping out some visuals and turning them into a website. It can be, but successful web design will focus on the user experience and the representation of a brand.

When dealing with e-commerce web design, the nature of the products/services being offered is a consideration when approaching a site.

A site with lots of products has more web design challenges than a site with just a couple of products. In either case, we'll want to build urgency within our visitor.

The Best Website Projects Involve Vision, Technology, and Relationships

By jason on 02/19/2016

In December, we received a referral from a local Drupal developer. They didn't have time to implement a website that was prepared and asked us if we could.

We were pretty busy, but since the website concept had been defined very well, and the group behind the website was impressive, we agreed to take it on.

Dynamic Random Content

By jason on 02/10/2016

The most subtle web design change can mean the difference between a bounce and a conversion.

When designing websites, we look at the forest and the trees: What is the simple, clear message that will influence the visitor? What supplementary techniques can we use to further engage and entice?

One thing we like to do, is display a single element randomly from a set. For example, the tagline on our website, which appears below our logo, is a random selection from a set of taglines.

Looking For Help With App Development?

By jason on 02/03/2016

We are proud to be throwing our hat into the iPhone Development Arena. Due to popular demand for iPhone app development and a limited supply of iPhone app developers in Boise, we've teamed up with a large development outfit to collaborate on projects.

The iPhone platform and iOS have exploded in popularity; sometimes a simple mobile css configuration on a website is enough, and other times a native iPhone app is needed. We'll help you to determine which method is best for you, and then will help to build and launch your app.

So Much Love For Drupal

By jason on 01/20/2016

Drupal is an outstanding content management system, and the beauty of this system can be seen through its flexibility.

A pure Drupal installation downloaded from www.drupal.org is minimalistic, and has certain nuances that aren't ideal.

To account for that, Drupal has a beautiful module system/api.

One handy module, is admin role:  http://drupal.org/project/adminrole.

What does admin role do?

Application Development: Is It Difficult?

By jason on 01/11/2016

Facebook application development isn't that difficult.

Sure, there's a learning curve, familiarity, and a comfort level, but the application of social technologies is a greater conceptual challenge than a technological one.

We've built several sites that integrate Facebook, with varying degrees of success:

Facebook Connect:
Allows users to login to your website / mobile app using their Facebook credentials--easy, nice, has some drawbacks.

Hacked!

Some days, you're hit with an unexpected task; this was the case today, when one of our servers was under attack.

We provide web hosting and a variety of websites on a leased, dedicated server. Specifically with those websites, we have various user accounts that have access to these sites.

Each time a user account is created and access is provided, it opens the door to an attacker. Good security practices are critical. Here are some things to consider:

Thoughts On Entrepreneurship

By jason on 12/28/2015

Just completed a survey from an entrepreneurial organization, asking about how much I'd pay for office space and access to business advisors and resources. (Thanks @entrep_thinking)

At first, I moved through it quickly, answering the "Do you have an idea?", "...A business plan?", "Would you use...office space, copier, internet, consultants [marketing, technical, etc]."

Then I got to, "How much would you pay?"

E-commerce Challenges

By jason on 12/21/2015

Some e-commerce challenges are more involved than others and anyone can plug some products into a pre-built shopping cart; however, tailoring a cart to your needs is a much more involved proposition.

Shipping, product attributes, configuration rules, constraints, inventory..the list goes on and on.

While working on solving an intricate ordering challenge for a specific industry, we've come across an excellent write-up involving Drupal commerce: http://drupal.org/node/1338172
